The Public Service Center assists the public sector in identifying and resolving complex urban and regional issues. The center provides the expertise of faculty and staff to help the public sector develop solutions. My responsibilities included: management of a variety of projects, identification of needs, customers and appropriate faculty resources to meet needs, negotiation of contracts, budget development and management, increasing the visibility of the center on campus and in the community, assuring customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities included: provide lead staff support to standing evaluation and planning committees of the Authority, collect and analyze data on the current conditions for children and families, identify sources of funding to refinance and sustain initiatives begun by the Authority, provide technical assistance to partner agencies in planning, evaluation and financing efforts, represent the Authority as needed on local state and national committees addressing the planning, evaluation and financing aspects of the Authority's work in comprehensive community building initiatives to improve the lives of children and families.

Responsibilities included: provide support and professional leadership to 5 staff and over 100 volunteers; maintain and enhance a system of agency evaluation that includes financial and program analysis of funded services; assist with community efforts to develop decision-making tools based on accurate community needs information; facilitate and conduct meetings related to community issues as they surface; monitor state and federal government activities which impact the nonprofit sector; and provide staff support to ad hoc committees as issues arise and to other divisions within the United Way.

The Director of Finance is responsible for the financial reporting and control functions of the agency. These duties included: preparation of financial statements and reports, coordination of reimbursement, budgeting and forecasting programs. As Director, I supervised the Business Services division including bookkeeping, purchasing, operations and maintenance. Annual budget for the agency was $3.2 million for 10 programs.
